We're visiting the Boysenberry Festival at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA. Opened by Walt Knott in 1923 along State Route 39 in Southern California, claiming to be "America's First Theme Park". The  Knott's Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival was first created by Walter Knott in 1926 as an annual event from late March to early May to highlight the complex flavors and diversity of the boysenberry. Due to Walter Knott developing the Knott's Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival many people believe Walter Knott was the person who created the boysenberry, however, Walter Knott did not create the boysenberry. The boysenberry was created by Rudolph Boysen who was  park superintendent at Anaheim California.

When Walter Knott heard of the new berry developed by Rudolph Boysen, Mr. Knott tracked Mr. Boysen down. However, when Knott got in touch with Boysen, Boysen's boysenberry crops were dying, so Walter Knott offered to help bring the new found berry crop back to life at his farm, what is now known as Knott's Berry Farm.

* Rudolph Boysen first produced a boysenberry in 1923 which is a hybrid of loganberry, dewberry, raspberry, and blackberry.
